Biography

When I was in high school, I turned to AJ Tutoring for help preparing for the SAT. That experience was both impactful and inspiring. My tutor gave me the confidence and skills I needed to succeed on the exam and ultimately begin my college journey at UC Davis. Now, it’s a joy to return to AJ Tutoring as a tutor myself, bringing both my academic background and my passion for teaching to K–8 students and to biology learners of all levels.

After graduating from UC Davis with a degree in Cell Biology, I pursued a PhD in Biophysics at UC Irvine, where I studied how cells sense and respond to their environments. Alongside my research, I mentored students in the lab, helping them develop technical skills and confidence as young scientists, and served as a teaching assistant in graduate courses. These experiences reinforced how much I enjoy guiding students, breaking down complex ideas, and fostering curiosity.

At AJ Tutoring, I draw on these experiences to help students not only master academic material but also build confidence in their ability to learn and problem-solve. Whether I’m supporting a middle schooler with study skills, working with a high school student in biology, or helping younger students build strong academic foundations, I strive to balance encouragement and challenge so each student leaves our sessions more confident and engaged.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy exploring new hiking trails around the Bay Area, cooking with family and friends, and diving into a good novel or science podcast. I also have an adorable orange haired cat named Finn!
