Biography

My goal at AJ Tutoring is to provide a fun and welcoming environment for students who desire to find their “ah-ha” moment. I can relate to and understand the frustration a student may feel when trying to grasp a new mathematical concept, and it is imperative to have someone there to guide them through a difficult process. Growing up in a large family, I found that tutoring my younger siblings brought me immense satisfaction when I saw the concept finally click, and I carried that over to a tutoring job during college.

I am a proud graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a degree in Statistics and Data Science. It was a long and unconventional path, as I grew up in Israel, moving to Sunnyvale, CA, in third grade, without knowing the language or having access to the educational support system. I attended tutoring classes and, now looking back, they were essential in my academic life. Throughout my educational career, I have learned the power of a helping hand and the necessity to work out one’s blind spots with others.

I believe the best teachers guide students toward greater independence and confidence, helping them develop the skills to answer questions independently. I also recognize that school and tests can create significant stress and anxiety, so I strive to deliver continued support and encouragement throughout that process.

When I am not tutoring, I enjoy solving puzzles, reading outside, going to a yoga class, trying out a new recipe, or going on a long walk with my friends.
