Biography

Raised in the Bay Area, I first discovered my passion for education in high school while taking dual enrollment math classes at De Anza College. The encouragement I received from my professors inspired me to give back, and I soon became a tutor for De Anza’s Math Performance Success program. There, I had the rewarding experience of working with students from diverse backgrounds and witnessing the “aha moment” when a difficult concept finally clicks. I’ve enjoyed every bit of helping students achieve their academic goals, from providing 1-on-1 drop-in support for homework to working alongside professors to assist with in-class problem sets.

I went on to graduate from UC Berkeley with a degree in Data Science, which taught me that a well-rounded toolkit is crucial to success, an insight I carry into my tutoring. Whether I’m helping a student hone their math skills, strengthen their reading comprehension, or develop study habits, my goal is to build their confidence and show them that learning any subject is both approachable and enjoyable. I believe that what may initially seem daunting is absolutely manageable with a tailored plan for progress, leading to tangible results.

My tutoring philosophy centers on encouragement, patience, and adaptability. I make full use of the 1-on-1 format to personalize each session, adjusting my explanations and practice to meet students exactly where they are. Regular check-ins are crucial to this process, as is ensuring a student feels heard and understood. This approach empowers students to see that challenges can be overcome with persistence, curiosity, and the right support.

Outside of tutoring, you can find me hiking, listening to all genres of music (except country!), and volunteering to socialize cats for a local rescue. These activities keep me refreshed and grounded, and they give me a balanced perspective to bring to my teaching.
