Azzam Ali

Academic and Test Prep Tutor

Biography

An avid learner turned enthusiastic teacher, I am here to support students’ journeys towards STEM and standardized test success. My undergraduate in Chemical Engineering, at UC Davis, inspired me to teach because of how my professors and mentors were able to condense complex subjects into bite-sized information that could be absorbed easily.

For me, satisfaction in teaching comes when students are able to gain familiarity with core concepts. Getting “lucky” once is not the goal, rather the aim is to create your own “luck” through practice and repetition – thus, enabling one’s confidence and ability to tackle problems in any testing environment.

I love teaching the SAT because I believe it is one of the two metrics in a college hopeful’s application package that can be improved in a short amount of time and help them stand out to admissions teams. When it comes to standardized testing, a candidate’s math and reading skills only reflects half of the battle – the other half is won through effective time management, i.e. knowing strategies to reach the correct answers under pressure. The latter part is what my SAT training will emphasize, to ensure that students feel prepared and “cool as a cucumber” on test day!

Outside of tutoring, my hobbies include cooking new recipes for friends and family, working out, going to my cousins’ soccer games and playing Beyblade.

Happy Parents and Students
