Biography

As a star enthusiast at a young age, I loved getting my hands on any encyclopedia or space-related book I could find. The curiosity never went away, and it’s what pushed me to begin my studies at De Anza College and later transfer to UCLA, majoring in physics with an emphasis on astronomy. What began with just helping friends along the way has slowly turned into a passion for tutoring. I began tutoring for physics at De Anza Resource Center, then continued to work with students from elementary to college on everything from algebra to calculus through The Princeton Review. Eventually, I became a go-to mentor for many undergraduates in astrophysics at UCLA.

A complex idea does not have to feel intimidating if given the right resource. As such, my teaching philosophy is simple: create a space where students feel supported, build their confidence step by step, and help them understand the why behind what they’re learning.

Through guiding all my students, I see a version of my past self in them. In helping them grow, I unknowingly continue shaping who I am today: more patient, more empathetic, and more committed to learning alongside them. As I continue my journey at AJ Tutoring, I am dedicated to all students my best by sharing the success stories, study strategies, and mindset shifts that can support them beyond the classroom setting.

Outside of teaching, you will find me working on unlocking my matcha whisking potential and perfecting the art of a good cup of matcha. I am also a big manga enthusiast, with JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure as my current obsession.
