Course Description:

This course focuses on the process of translation as a means of engaging students with Spanish at a deeper level. Taught exclusively in Spanish, it is meant for proficient speakers and empowers students to approach the task of translation as professional translators do. Students will learn the best practices of translating all kinds of documents, from comics to court cases. Students will not only translate documents, but also participate in discussions regarding the social, historical, and political contexts that gave rise to such documents. Translation projects will be tailored to students specific interests.

While our courses are always designed for 1-on-1 interactions between the student and tutor, we find that advanced language courses can benefit from small group instruction and would encourage interested students to let us know if they would like to schedule 2-on-1 or 3-on-1 tutoring.
