Biography

I have always been fascinated by the sciences and the way they help us understand the natural world. This curiosity led me to pursue a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology, alongside a second degree in Data Science at UC Berkeley. During my undergraduate years, I completed an honors thesis on sleep disturbances in Parkinson’s disease. This experience deepened my love of biology and strengthened my desire to help others understand the connections between science and everyday life.
Alongside my studies, I gained experience mentoring and teaching students from diverse backgrounds, from K-5 learners to college students, both in the classroom and one-on-one. I enjoy helping students break down complex concepts into approachable steps, and, most importantly, guiding them to understand the why behind the science rather than simply memorizing facts. My favorite part of tutoring is when students excitedly explain a concept back to me, showing not only that they understand it, but also that they’ve gained confidence in their abilities.
At AJ, I will continue sharing my passion for the sciences and inspiring the next generation of learners. I am excited to support students in preparing for AP Biology and Chemistry exams, as well as strengthening their understanding of foundational concepts to help them succeed in the classroom.
In my free time, I enjoy exploring the great outdoors. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, you can often find me with my trusty hiking boots and Nikon camera, on the lookout for wildflowers and wildlife. I also love playing the piano and the guitar, and have recently taken up learning tennis.
