Biography

I was born and raised here in the South Bay. I initially went to Loyola University Chicago to become a doctor, but my studies there awoke a passion and talent for history and research, so I chose to fully devote myself to that subject. After some time working with museums, archives, and historical societies, I decided to further my skills with a master’s degree at the University of Guelph up in Canada. I specialized in the niche but very rewarding field of travel and tourism history, an area that touches so much of our daily lives.

I began working at AJ Tutoring as a tutor specializing in English and history in normal and AP formats. My favorite aspect of the work in both subjects is helping students find their voice. I focus on teaching argumentation as well as writing and memorization strategies. I believe that great historians can come from anywhere or do anything: it’s truly a universal subject, whether you work in STEM, humanities, or business. I hope one day to work as a classroom history teacher here in the Bay Area.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy staying in touch with my creative side through painting miniatures, writing, and running Dungeons and Dragons games. I also love reading old travel accounts and literature from the 17th to the 20th centuries.
