Biography

I’m Jonathan Fang, and I bring a fresh perspective to tutoring by combining my recent Electrical and Computer Engineering degree from UW-Madison with a genuine passion for making complex concepts accessible. During college, I served as a Teaching Assistant for Calculus 1 and 2, where I discovered my talent for breaking down challenging mathematical ideas into digestible steps. I’ve also worked directly with families as a private tutor, helping students build both skills and confidence in mathematics.

I believe that every student has the potential to succeed in math – sometimes it just takes finding the right approach or explanation that clicks. My engineering background gives me unique insight into real-world applications of mathematical concepts, which I love sharing with students to show them why what they’re learning actually matters.

When I’m not tutoring, you’ll likely find me on the tennis or pickleball courts, exploring new restaurants around the Bay Area, or hiking with my dog. I’m also passionate about photography and digital art, often creating Photoshop composites that blend my technical skills with creative expression. My diverse interests help me connect with students from all backgrounds and find creative ways to make learning engaging and fun.

""I looked forward to our sessions, which made the work we did stick with me more. All in all, this is probably one of the best tutoring experiences I have had!""
