I have a BA in Mathematics and Economics from Yale University and have several years of experience teaching and tutoring. While at Yale, I volunteered as a soccer and basketball coach with the New Haven Department of Parks and Recreation and served as a class representative to my college council. I have also worked as a quantitative analyst where I applied mathematical and statistical concepts to a variety of problems and projects.
I am excited to share my years of experience as head of the Calculus and Statistics departments here at AJ. Calculus, Probability Theory, and Statistics are among my favorite topics in math, but I have experience teaching and tutoring all subjects and levels. My tutoring style emphasizes critical thinking and problem solving. I also strive to offer glimpses into the applications of math in various disciplines as well as the theoretical foundations.
I find 1-on-1 tutoring to be a highly effective educational method because it allows me to cater to the teaching process specifically to the needs and abilities of the student. Students often view learning math as a tedious experience of memorizing formulas and equations and substituting the numbers to get an answer, but I strive to show my students that math can be far more exciting and applicable to real world problems.
I am an avid sports fan and love basketball, soccer, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in particular.
