Biography

In school, math was always my favorite subject, so much so that as an engineering student, I opted for a year and a half of math beyond the degree requirement. Many years later, I returned to graduate school for mathematics and was thrilled to encounter many familiar topics as well as topics new to me. It reaffirmed my love of math.

I was an electrical engineer for most of my career, and over the years, I have worked for some familiar names in high tech. However, I love teaching, whether one-on-one or in front of a classroom, and helping students develop the skills they need for success. While it’s not always easy with math, I strive to make the material interesting by demonstrating the connections between different topics and teaching some of the history behind the mathematicians who brought math to life.

When I’m not teaching, I enjoy gardening and playing with my dogs, reading, and brushing up on some of my favorite engineering topics.
