Biography

Growing up as the daughter of two teachers, I always knew I wanted to work in education. I earned my degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in English as a Second Language from the University of North Carolina Wilmington (go Seahawks!). A study abroad experience in Ethiopia during college sparked my passion for global education and action research. After graduating, I spent two years teaching 1st grade girls in Kuwait while earning my master’s degree in Global Education from Arizona State University. My research focused on communication, curriculum, and learning outcomes in virtual learning environments.

Back in the U.S., I supported multilingual learners and young students as a K-8 ESL teacher and kindergarten teacher in North Carolina Public Schools. I designed and implemented project-based learning to make core content meaningful and engaging. For several summers, I have worked in various capacities with TALMA: The Israel Program for Excellence in English, a global initiative bringing teachers together to support English learning in underserved communities. These international experiences have deepened my commitment to educational equity and cross-cultural learning.

I believe every student deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued. I strive to create fun, inclusive, and engaging learning environments — often through games and interactive activities. Building strong relationships with students is central to my teaching philosophy. I draw on their interests and strengths while encouraging them to stretch beyond their comfort zones to develop meaningful growth.

In summer 2025, my fiancé (Jacob) and I relocated to the Bay Area. We are loving life here with our two cats, Chai and Enzo. In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing board games, taking barre and Pilates classes, and cooking. I’m thrilled to be part of the AJ Tutoring team and excited to work with amazing students here in sunny California!

""My tutor was nice and understanding. She tried her best at all times that I knew the topics completely and if I didn't she would find another way to teach." "
