What does the ACT measure?
The ACT, a comprehensive exam, assesses educational development and readiness to pursue college-level coursework in English, mathematics, natural science, and social studies. Notably, the Science Test, a unique component of the ACT that does not directly correspond to any SAT section, is a 40-question, 35-minute test. It measures the skills required in the natural sciences: interpretation, analysis, evaluation, reasoning, and problem-solving.
Is the ACT a fast-paced test?
Yes. Most students have difficulty finishing the test within the allotted time. To do well on the ACT, students need to tackle the pressure of the test’s time limits. Moving swiftly and efficiently through dense passages is the key to success. Our tutors teach testing techniques like skimming passages and scanning for keywords to set students up for success. With this in mind, our ACT prep includes significant focus on timing strategy.
