Caitlin Odulio

Academic Tutor

I have been fascinated by math from a very early age. In elementary school, I used to watch math tutorials for fun. In high school, I had an amazing calculus teacher who showed me not only the beauty of calculus but the power of great teaching. This inspired in me a passion for teaching, and I have been tutoring ever since.

I’m a proud Bay Area native, but I attended the University of California, San Diego, and received degrees in aerospace engineering and mechanical engineering with a specialization in controls and robotics. During these years, I had many opportunities to implement math, physics, and engineering concepts in projects and research, and I worked as a teaching assistant whenever I had the chance. From my time as a graduate teaching assistant, I developed skills in explaining tough abstract concepts and teaching students the troubleshooting processes to engage critical thinking skills. I was thrilled to receive glowing feedback from both the professors and the students.

I find great joy in sharing my excitement for STEM with others. As a tutor, I understand that math and science can be incredibly challenging, but I hope to help my students experience the satisfaction of struggling through concepts to ultimately reach understanding. I deeply empathize with students who experience school-induced anxiety and imposter syndrome, so my goal is to work hard and patiently with students to make learning fun, not a chore.

I also work part-time at a start-up that is developing a flying car, and I love studying new things in the field of Control Theory. In my free time, I love to read all genres, exercise, and try new mediums of creating art!

The most helpful part of my tutoring was that my tutor would really connect with me personally and understood my needs as a visual learner, especially when completing tough questions.  Read what others are saying
