Jessica Kang

Academic Tutor

I grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and in Southern California, and during my education, I met incredible teachers and wonderful mentors who inspired me to pursue a STEM degree. I graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, and the support I received from my teachers and mentors motivated me to pursue opportunities to help others the way they helped me.

During college, I had the opportunity to work as a supplemental instructor for a community college’s Transfer Achievement Program. As a supplemental instructor, I learned to create effective lesson plans and connect with students who wanted to succeed. I also worked as a private tutor for high school students. I appreciated the relationships I built with my students and the impact I had on their lives, and these experiences inspired me to become an educator.

At AJ Tutoring, I enjoy supporting students in their math classes as they establish a strong grasp of the fundamentals that their future classes will build on. I want to empower each student by giving them the skills they need to succeed in their educational career. I have come to appreciate the importance of learning good study habits, and I help my students master not only their academic material but also these essential skills. As each student is unique, my goal is to find the methods that work best for them.

Beyond teaching, my other passion is billiards, and I currently play in a several leagues.
