Born in Colorado, I graduated with my BA in chemistry from the University of Colorado Boulder, but then pivoted to finish my MFA in screenwriting from the University of Texas at Austin. Throughout my college career, I tutored K-12 students in subjects ranging from math and science to English composition and creative writing, and I served as a college lecturer and teaching assistant in both chemistry and screenwriting curriculum.
Over my years teaching, my philosophy has been to cater my teaching and coaching to be personal to the student. As a college counselor, I work closely with each student to identify their college and career goals and to tailor our efforts to help them meet those goals. I recognize that students are juggling many responsibilities during busy junior and senior years, and I collaborate with them to design a strategic timeline for completing their application materials. While coaching students through application questions and admission essays, I provide feedback they can use to increase the overall impact of their applications.
Outside of my work, I enjoy watching horror, mystery, and science fiction films; cooking and baking (especially sourdough bread, homemade pickles, and hot sauces); and exploring history and the world by reading diverse material.
