Melanie Valle

Academic Tutor

I am a Southern California girl at heart, having graduated from the University of California, Riverside, with a BS in molecular biology. My journey began at a small, private, all-girls high school, where I decided that my next step would be transitioning to a larger educational institution. Through this opportunity I was able to both expand my knowledge, while discovering my purpose as an individual.

From a young age I discovered my passion was to help others. Because of this, throughout high school and while working towards my bachelor’s degree I yearned for any chance to volunteer in my community. Along the way, I found myself making the most impact at local elementary and middle schools where I would dedicate my time as a teacher’s aide. From there, I began tutoring students after school and eventually coordinated after-school programs in the Los Angeles area.

Through the hundreds of students that I have worked with over the years, I have been able to see myself in each student. Although I am now accomplished academically, I, like everyone else, had to overcome many obstacles. These obstacles I now see as challenges that all led me towards my love for science and math, and ultimately my academic success. I aim to create an environment with my students where they can safely face their own obstacles and develop the study skills, content knowledge, and confidence that they can take forward with them in life to reach their own accomplishments.

As an educator and tutor my goal is to help each student turn their own personal challenges into goals. I do this through a one-on-one approach, tailoring to each student’s individual needs and providing them with the tools they need to succeed. Whether they’re mastering their academic classes or preparing for the HSPT, ISEE, and SSAT, I find importance in building personal connections with my students and helping them discover their own academic passions along the way.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoying hiking with friends, going to beach, and traveling to new places. No matter where I am in life, I see everyday as a learning experience and I am excited to see where it takes me.
