Nirushi Silva

Academic Tutor

I graduated from University of North Texas, where I majored in chemistry and minored in mathematics. After graduation, I began my career as a chemistry technician at a biotech company.

However, while I was pursuing my degree, I worked as a mathematics tutor at University of Texas at Arlington and at Tarrant County College Arlington. I also worked as an undergraduate teaching assistant at University of North Texas. I worked in diverse environments, gaining experience with students of different age groups from different educational backgrounds and cultures. The experience left me with a deep passion for teaching and inspired me to continue work as a tutor.

As a teacher and a tutor, my goal is always to help students become successful, not only with the subject matter itself, but also with planning their academic future. As a teaching assistant, I worked with many first year college students who were struggling with transitioning from high school. As a result, my focus is on building students’ confidence so that they can successfully pursue whatever path they wish in their academic future. To do so, I aid them in mastering necessary skills to perform well in school examinations and standardized tests.

I spend my free time enjoying traveling, sightseeing, and watching movies.
