I have always been a philomath, and I want to inspire students to love learning as I do. Throughout my learning journey, I have developed a myriad of ways to grasp the concepts of different subjects, which allowed me to excel in AP courses and my college coursework. I’m passionate about helping students learn how to learn and achieve success.
I went to Lynbrook High School and completed my undergrad in bioengineering at the University of California, San Diego. I was fascinated with biology and its applications, specifically in medicine, and my degree exposed me to a range of concepts in engineering, math, physics, chemistry, and biology. The quick pace of the UC quarter system taught me to concisely explain and describe complex concepts, and I had many opportunities to teach my peers. Their positive feedback and the satisfaction of watching them succeed inspired me to pursue further opportunities in education.
There are two primary things that I believe are important in teaching: patience and the ability to view situations from students’ perspective to understand their source of confusion. I sympathize with students who struggle with challenging material and recognize that everyone learns at their own pace. I make sure I understand students’ current level of understanding and how they learn best so that I can tailor my teaching style to meet their needs. My goal is to help students not only understand the concepts, but also find joy in learning: I want to set them up to be lifelong learners.
In my free time, I enjoy learning random facts, taking care of my plants, napping, and going on hikes!
