The summer can be filled with lots of fun activities to keep students busy. But have you ever been stuck trying to come up with activities that are both fun AND academic? Well the AJ Team of Tutors are here with some great recommendations!
- Tutoring can be a really easy and helpful way to stay on track over the summer, in the same way that personal trainers help you keep working toward your fitness goals. I think students who need to take time off from tutoring can still make great progress by remembering to read good books and schedule blocks of time to study (whether that be summer homework, summer coursework, or summer enrichment workbooks).- Jessica Embrey
- Dungeons & Dragons and other tabletop RPGs — there’s math (probabilities and arithmetic), optional writing and drawing, lots of group problem-solving, and tons of opportunity for creativity.-Lee Miller
- Read! Fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, manga, an encyclopedia (do those even exist any more?), newspapers, blogs etc.-Katie Quach-Noice
- Flashcards, watch Netflix in other languages with subtitles on, read!!!!-Peggy Taylor
- Ryan Li recommends Mini Crosswords!
- There’s an overabundance of projects and exercises that students can do. Personally, I’m addicted to code wars challenges.-Andrew Schor
- Dr. Bright recommends writing a blog!
- Read, think critically about problems in their lives, practice dimensional analysis when cooking- Dipti Dedhia
Nearly every activity can integrate a level of academics and fun! We encourage our students to really flex those creative muscles throughout the summer, and find ways to keep their brains active and engaged. There are also a variety of bootcamps, summer camps, and (of course) tutoring available to students throughout the summer as well. Summer offers a unique opportunity for enrichment and a way to get ahead for the next school year.
