Course Description:

This 1-on-1 class introduces Latin’s most fundamental concepts. Students will be introduced to the multiplicity of cases and tenses, and we will cover the six cases of the Latin noun and the four conjugations of the verb in the indicative voice. Important roots and vocabulary will be covered that will help the student understand even unknown vocabulary and see the connections in the English language.

Students will be taught efficient ways to learn declensions and conjugations, along with Latin sentence structure and grammar consistent with the content of a first year Latin course. With minimal memorization, students will learn to distinguish parts of speech, even in difficult sentences, and will learn major vocabulary and grammatical structures.

This course is designed not only to give students the tools needed to excel in Latin but also to improve their understanding of English. The course covers study of Latin prefixes and suffixes, but also goes further to focus on reading and understanding Latin syntax with an emphasis on how this applies to English.
