Course Description:

Students are often puzzled by poetry. In our summer poetry workshop, students will explore a variety of topics and techniques found in modern poetry in order to enhance the students’ analytical and close reading skills. Additionally, writing poetry builds a stronger understanding of form, grammar, and the English language overall. Students will write their own poems, read pieces by modern and classic poets, and develop their ability to articulate what makes a poem good (or not good!).

Students will also have an opportunity to perform their poetry or have an end-of-course bookbinding session to create an anthology of the student’s finished work.

Make the Most of the Summer!

Students who stay actively engaged in the learning process during the summer perform better during the school year.
