Using ChatGPT to Improve Study Skills and Academic Performance

Course Description:

ChatGPT is a new addition to the educational landscape, and it offers both powerful opportunities to aid students in honing their learning process and pitfalls when it comes to academic integrity and accuracy. Students will develop familiarity with the advantages and limitations of ChatGPT, which is capable of providing explanations to help students clarify their understanding, guiding students through problem solving steps, providing additional examples and analogies, offering feedback on writing mechanics, and aiding in language learning. Students will gain hands-on experience in and strategies for using ChatGPT to facilitate their own learning in a variety of academic disciplines.

The course will also cover topics of academic integrity and media literacy. Students will learn the limitations of ChatGPT and develop their skills in critically evaluating its responses and prospective sources. Additionally, students will learn how to steer clear of plagiarism and other ethical pitfalls so that they can present academic work that is both accurate and their own.
