Math Boot Camp: Transitioning To High School (July)

Course Description:

The transition to high school can be daunting, and a lack of summer engagement in math adds to the pressure of starting a new school. Spending the majority of last school year online will make this transition even harder! This group course targeted at rising 8th graders in Advanced Math or rising 9th graders entering Algebra 1. We will spend time emphasizing foundations and mechanics, reviewing Pre-Algebra, and previewing core concepts from Algebra 1.

Students will meet twice per week as a group in 90-minute classes, and once 1-on-1 with the instructor for thirty minutes. The 1-on-1 sessions are mid-course check-ins designed to ensure students are staying on track; they will either will either reinforce or expand upon topics from the week, depending on each individual student’s needs. Homework between classes will be assigned.
