I was born and raised in the Bay Area, graduating from Monta Vista High School. Pursuing my passion for computer science, I enrolled at the University of Maryland, College Park, and completed my degree as part of the QUEST Honors Program.
My passion for math has been a constant since my early years: I always strove to be the first one in my 3rd-grade class to complete our weekly multiplication quizzes, and I find joy in diverse approaches to problem-solving and the creativity it allows. As a student, I experienced firsthand the transformative power of personalized support in math. This support not only clarified challenging concepts, but also significantly boosted my overall academic performance. It enabled me to both excel in math and develop a passion for the field.
These experiences ignited my own commitment to education, as I wish to contribute to positive changes in others’ learning experiences.
My tutoring philosophy revolves around empowering students to achieve a deep understanding and fostering independence in problem-solving. In each 1-on-1 session, I not only tailor my teaching to the individual learning style, but also take pride in adapting dynamically to students’ evolving needs. I believe in the importance of strong rapport to address academic challenges and equip students with the confidence for ongoing success.
I’ve had the privilege of teaching Scratch and basic Python through Girls Who Code. Additionally, I taught a computer science elective on product management during my college years, and I served as a mentor for students in a discrete structures course. Beyond academia, I’ve coached basketball at Legarza Summer Camp and have coached at the Special Olympics. These experiences have equipped me with adaptability and empathy.
Outside of tutoring, you’ll find me exploring new boba shops, playing with my dog, and enjoying the lively Indian dance form of bhangra!
