I first realized my passion for mathematics in middle school and discovered my interest in teaching during high school when I assisted my friends and classmates with math concepts and assignments. These experiences led me to graduate from the Patton College of Education at Ohio University with a minor in mathematics. I went on to teach for two years at a public high school in Ohio, then moved to California to teach at a private high school.
I love nothing more than seeing students light up once they understand the concepts. While I was a classroom teacher, I found that these moments primarily happened during one-on-one sessions, and I value the tutoring environment as an opportunity to engage with math at the student’s level, tailor explanations to meet their learning style, and develop the confidence that students often lack in math. My teaching experiences have shown me that the process of understanding math can be messy. However, by reflecting on work, practicing, and sharing challenges with others, students build a better understanding of the material.
Aside from math, my main interests are taking care of my cat and dog; crafting with my Cricut and cross-stitching; and playing video games, card games, and board games.
