As a child, I created my own standardized test that I named the CSST (Coravos Schools Standardized Test). I made my little sister and all her friends take this 3-hour exam, which included strict time limits for each section: English, math, and science. After grading their tests, I mailed score reports to everyone’s parents, complete with charts and percentiles. Clearly, my childhood dream to become a tutor has come true!
After growing up in Boston, I moved to Houston, Texas, where I graduated summa cum laude from Rice University with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and linguistics. I then worked as a teacher in public and private schools before joining AJ Tutoring, where I am proud to serve as an office director.
With over 10,000 tutoring hours, I’ve successfully guided students to 800s on both sections of the SAT, 36s on the ACT, and A+’s in their coursework in algebra, geometry, precalculus, calculus, statistics, and linguistics, and as well as top scores on math placement exams for private high schools and colleges.
Throughout my years as an educator, I’ve come to appreciate how each student learns differently, which is why I love the customized approach at AJ. By listening and assessing, and then applying new tools and perspectives, I empower students to develop their skills. Whether we’re preparing for a test or learning new math concepts, I love helping my students develop confidence in themselves and reach their highest potential. To further expand my ability to support students with learning differences and testing anxiety, I completed training to become a therapist and received my masters degree in holistic counseling psychology from John F. Kennedy University.
When I am not tutoring, I enjoy walking in nature, creating art, and exploring new things!
