I have always had a fascination with the world around me and find great joy in learning. When learning something new, I often find myself thinking, “Woah! So that’s how it works! That’s really cool!” However, I also know the feeling of frustration that comes when concepts don’t click. I love tutoring because it allows me to change this frustration into understanding, helping concepts click and encouraging students’ passion. I find creating “ah-ha” moments for my students to be the crux of tutoring, and of teaching in general.
I completed my undergrad at Haverford College. While there, I had the pleasure of acting as a peer tutor. I also have experience working with elementary and middle school students in various contexts. For several years, I acted as religious school teacher for third through sixth graders, and I have worked as a summer camp counselor for incoming seventh and eighth graders. At AJ Tutoring, I love making learning fun for my students, guiding them through the process of learning, and developing habits and study skills to set them up for long-term success.
In non-academic settings, I would define myself by a love of Dungeons a Dragons, biking, and weightlifting.
