During my years at UC Santa Barbara, where I earned my B.S. in pharmacology, I found an even deeper passion for education. I saw too many students become apathetic towards school due to outside factors, but I do believe that everyone truly wants to learn. I have seen students’ discouragement especially when it comes time for standardized testing, which I work to re-frame as an opportunity to hone and celebrate all the skills a student has developed.
By focusing on learning, academics can be exciting. I aim to share this with all the students I work with. I dedicate myself to applying instructional methods that focus on promoting subject interest, self-motivation, and a growth mindset so that students can continue their momentum through any academic opportunity.
Though I teach a variety of subjects, I specialize in getting students inspired about STEM and healthcare through applications and new research and helping students prepare for the SAT and ACT exams. After over seven years of experience privately tutoring math, science, and Spanish, I enjoy leverage our resources to achieve each student’s goals as part of the AJ Tutoring team.
When I’m not working with students, you can find me at a concert or in the park with my dog, Winnie. At home, I enjoy making music, cooking, and playing video games.
