Growing up in San Jose gave me an appreciation, love, and passion for the Bay Area that has stayed with me my entire life. I cannot imagine a better way to give back to this community than by tutoring students as those in my life have tutored me.
After I attended Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, my educational journey took me to UC Davis, where I graduated with degrees in psychology and in cinema and digital media. Through writing, film-making, and collaboration, my work in the cinema & digital media field honed my literary and composition skills in the numerous films and stories I analyzed. Volunteering in my local community gave me a deep passion for helping people, and due to this, I chose to focus on psychology as well. Studying both of these fields through my education at UC Davis has given me a unique perspective when it comes to working with other people, learning as a student, and most importantly in teaching myself and others.
Through my time as both a student and an educator, I have loved working with students of all ages. From helping elementary and middle school students build confidence and develop great study habits to supporting high school students as they grapple with more challenging English and history content, I have found that tutoring each student is rewarding in its own unique and amazing way. My own experience at AJ Tutoring began as a student during my preparation for the SAT, and I enjoy passing on the strategies and skills I have developed through tutoring my classmates at school to today’s students. I truly believe that every student has the passion, strength, and perseverance to pursue their best work, and through my sessions, I help each student find their own dedication and passion for the material.
When I am not tutoring, I enjoy reading, editing videos, watching movies, and playing soccer with friends.
