Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I found my passion for tutoring at a very young age. I started my educational career as an ESL tutor at the Center for Human Services in Shoreline, WA. During my tenure there, I had the opportunity to learn from great teachers and meet people from all around the world. I was able to use my bilingual English and Spanish skills to tutor Hispanic students 1-on-1. Concurrently, I was working as a tutor at Kumon Language Center. There, I tutored 1-on-1 with middle school and high school students.
After graduating from the University of Washington with a major in Spanish, I moved to Lima, Peru. There, I attended Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, a very prestigious university, and earned a BA degree in education for Spanish and English teaching. This was a once in a lifetime experience, and I taught and tutored there for many years. The students congratulated me on several occasions for my clear and concise explanations and for my kindness and empathy.
As a tutor, I make it my goal to learn about various learning and teaching styles in order to ensure a dynamic and effective learning environment. Furthermore, I also believe it is my responsibility to bring into consideration the needs and interests of each and every one of my students in order to provide integral and interesting sessions. Providing students with personalized instruction allows them to succeed now and in the future.
During my free time, I enjoy going on small hikes and venturing out to explore new destinations with my family and dog.
