I grew up in the Bay Area with an intense curiosity for the world around me. As a child, I would often find things around the house to take apart and then put back together. My passion for physics comes from a desire to learn more about the universe and how it works! This interest was amplified by my physics teachers. I have had phenomenal teachers throughout my own education, and I feel lucky to be able to personally give back to the academic community. My teachers were always willing to answer my questions and encourage me to find out more. I want to continue that enthusiasm for science with my own students.
For college, I went to UC Davis and acquired a BS in Physics with a minor in Music. It was at UC Davis that I discovered my passion for tutoring. I found it rewarding during my college days to share my knowledge with those who wanted help in understanding physics. Whether they were friends, colleagues, or students, it was inspiring to see that moment of comprehension in others!
I knew I would become a tutor after realizing how much I enjoyed explaining physics to others throughout my life. The setting was irrelevant! I could be chatting about gravity with friends around a campfire or explaining quantum mechanics to a commuter on the bus. Now I can help students with their homework while helping them discover the wonders that physics has to offer!
More than just helping someone solve a problem, it is the cultivation of learning that I enjoy about tutoring. I believe everyone learns in their own way. Sometimes solutions present themselves, and other times the right answer can be elusive and cryptic. If someone is struggling with a certain problem, I change the perspective to help them see things in a new light and develop a better understanding. I believe once someone fully grasps a concept, they can tackle any problem with confidence!
When I am not teaching, I enjoy attending concerts and music festivals and embarrassing myself at local open mic events. I also go hiking, watch the Giants during baseball season, and try to find the best places to eat around the Bay Area!
