I was born and raised here in the beautiful Bay Area, attending Saratoga High and dreaming about where I would go to college. I wanted to see more of the world, so, having never been to the East Coast before, I decided on Cornell University. There, I studied plant sciences with a concentration in human health, largely inspired by the incredible plant life we have here in the Bay. My ethnobotany and plant pharmacology classes got me interested in psychiatry, for which I pursued a Master’s at King’s College London, an amazing opportunity to learn and travel Europe.
During my time at Saratoga High, I volunteered for Reading Partners as a reading and writing tutor. I went on to work as a teaching assistant for my viticulture professor, and it became one of my favorite experiences in college: it was extremely rewarding to help my students with their projects and to see their knowledge and expertise grow. I love that teaching itself is a constant learning experience. It never ceases to challenge me, and I’m always furthering my own knowledge and discovering new ways to explain concepts.
As a tutor, I strive to make the learning process engaging and the material manageable yet challenging. I understand how intimidating the SAT and ACT can seem, and I enjoy coaching students on how to navigate the test’s demands so that they can approach the test confidently. As someone who prepared for the SAT myself and who has been studying for the LSAT and preparing to apply to law school, I can relate to my students in their frustrations and triumphs.
When I’m not immersed in teaching or studying for the LSAT, I’m enjoying everything outdoors that the Bay Area has to offer.
