Introduction to Hindi

Hindi has over 600 million speakeres worldwide and 900 thousand speakers in the US. A lingua franca in many parts of India, Hindi will open a window into Indian culture and society.

Course Description:

Both beginners and native speakers can benefit from this student-centered course. All students will cover reading, writing, and speaking Hindi, with a primary focus on one of the three per the student’s choosing. Students will learn the Devanagari script and develop essential vocabulary to navigate daily conversations and travel. Conversation practice (including help with pronunciation and fluency) is an important component of this course.
